The Maccaferri Biomac range of biodegradable blankets offer erosion protection to vulnerable soil slopes, or slopes that need a 'helping hand' to revegetate. They are made from either coir fibres, or a combination of straw and coir fibres, depending upon the design life required by the project. Biomac blankets are also available pre-seeded with pioneering plant species. Our Biomac CJ is 100% biodegradable

Secured to the soil slope, Maccaferri Biomac offers immediate erosion protection of the soil during the establishment phase of specialist or general seeding and planting. It protects vulnerable plant shoots from damage by rain impact, moisture evaporation and erosion of the topsoil by surface water run-off.

Biomac will biodegrade over 1-5 years (depending upon product), by which time sufficient vegetation is to be established to control slope erosion without external assistance. If you are concerned that vegetation establishment may be slower than this, or future weather events could be severe, you may wish to consider a man-made permanent erosion control matting, such as Enkamat, also offered by Maccaferri Ltd into the GB market.
