Pavements: Bound Pavement Reinforcement

Soft ground beneath the road sub-base caused early fatigue cracking. Maccaferri Roadmesh placed in the upper bound layers of the road provided long-term reinforcement and reduced maintenance.
Asphalt being placed onto Maccaferri Roadmesh to reduce rutting and extend fatigue life of the pavement.
Rolling the Maccaferri Roadmesh flat to the road surface removes 'memory' in the Roadmesh easing the installation.

Maccaferri Roadmesh secured to the pavement in this project using Hilti clips and nails. Fixings are specific to the project, depending upon the substrate into which you are fixing.

When flexible asphalt pavements are exposed to loads over time, rutting, pothole formation and fatigue cracking can occur. With increasing vehicle use and axle loads, this problem may also get worse. Simply resurfacing a problem pavement will only temporarily improve the situation as cracks from the underlying layers soon propagate into the new overlay, causing premature aging.

Help is at hand! By reinforcing the bound layers of the pavement construction, the road is strengthened, extending the fatigue life and reducing rutting and shoving. Overall this saves the client money by reducing the “whole life cost” of the road including maintenance commitments.
