MACCAFERRI ROADMESH ASPHALT REINFORCEMENT PERFORMS AS PLANNED ON SCOTTISH TRUNK ROAD
Road reinforcement mesh from Maccaferri, has proved its value by continuing to perform as intended, after more than 10 years use on the busy A75 trunk road outside Stranerar in Scotland.
The A75 carries thousands of HGV’s a day and part of the road had been originally constructed over soft, clay sub-grade. Here, the constant traffic loading had caused severe deflection and cracking of the wearing course.
In 1999, Maccaferri Roadmesh, double-twist wire reinforcing mesh was installed as part of bituminous asphalt overlay. Roadmesh has made the overlay work as a cohesive mass, absorbing stresses and reducing fatigue cracking by spreading traffic loadings over a wider footprint.
