“Well impressed” was how Maypine Construction described Anchor Wall Systems’ [AWS] “Diamond” segmental retaining wall they had just built alongside Persimmon Homes’ Eynesbury Marina development near St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

The Anchor Diamond walling, specified by Geotechnical Engineers, Maccaferri, forms a 2 metre high retaining wall between the lakeside footways and the newly built houses that border this section of the marina development

Chosen because of its ease and speed of construction for this complex, piled-foundation site, the Anchor Walling was built by Maypine over an 8 week contract period. Their site management was full of praise for how easily the Anchor System was to install. They were “well impressed” said a Maypine spokesman.

The Anchor wall was constructed on basic granular footings and incorporates site-won back-fill materials placed in compacted layers with polymeric geo-grid reinforcement behind the wall to create raised terraces overlooking the marina. These provide additional recreational space for the home owners and add an important vertical dimension to the overall scheme aesthetic.

Anchor Diamond is one of a range of segmental retaining wall blocks from American based licensor, Anchor Wall Systems.
Anchor products are marketed in the UK and Ireland in partnership with concrete products manufacturer, Acheson & Glover Group and Maccaferri, who provide engineering and technical support
