RoadMesh

Roadmesh being deployed from a roll, onto the existing pavement on this project in the South Midlands.
Asphalt being placed onto Maccaferri Roadmesh to reduce rutting and extend fatigue life of the pavement.
Maccaferri Roadmesh secured to the pavement in this project using Hilti clips and nails. Fixings are specific to the project, depending upon the substrate into which you are fixing.
Typical fixing detail - it is always preferable to secure the Roadmesh at the reinforcing bar, not mid-mesh as shown here.
Fixing the transverse junction between rolls of Maccaferri Roadmesh using (in this project) Hilti nails and clips.

RoadMesh is used to reinforce bound pavements. Placed within the upper bound layers of the pavement (typically 75mm below finished road level) Roadmesh strengthens the pavement and enhances its performance. Designed and installed correctly, Roadmesh;

  • Extends fatigue life
  • Reduces rutting, especially in motorway crawler lanes on hills
  • Reduces pothole formation
  • Reduces reflective cracking in overlays
  • Reduces 'shoving' and shearing of the upper asphalt layers when exposed to high lateral vehicle turning loads

Extensive testing including at Nottingham University pavement research laboratories and on the Virginia Tech / Virginia Department of Transportation SMART Road Project, Roadmesh is proven to be successful at reinforcing and strengthening bound pavements.

Maccaferri Roadmesh is made from double twisted steel wire mesh reinforced transversely at regular intervals with steel bars. It is these bars that absorb and transfer the loads within the pavement.
