Enkamat is a world renowned, lightweight, flexible alternative to rigid stone rip-rap or concrete blocks for controlling erosion. It is designed to facilitate the establishment of vegetation to help nature develop a strong resistance to erosion.
It is used for permanent erosion protection of slopes, river banks, ditches, channels, spillways, landfills, shorelines and other vulnerable erosion-prone areas.
Enkamat is available in a variety of configurations and the appropriate Enkamat is selected based upon the site conditions and erosion protection required. It is a three-dimensional matrix of thick polyamide filaments fused where they cross. Over 90% of the volume of the mat is voids, and is therefore available for soil filling, maximising the potential for establishing vegetation on the vulnerable slope.
Secured to the vulnerable slope, Enkamat offers immediate erosion protection from rain and flow, and is very useful for newly exposed slopes. It offers a root reinforcement matrix for the weak vegetation shoots as they establish and into the future, improving the erosion resistance of this living system.
- Enkamat; For use on all types of dry slopes (See below for downloads)
- Enkamat Flatback; For use on wet slopes and channels
- Enkamat A; Prefilled mat for use in high flow situations that still require vegetation
- Enkamat W; Reinforced with geogrids to offer high tensile strength for demanding slope applications
- Enkamat J; Suitable for dry slopes where severe hydraulic loadings are exposed within 3 to 4 months. Integral biodegradable matting promotes vegetation growth
