Bentomat is a reinforced geosynthetic clay liner (GCL). Natural sodium bentonite is integrated into a non-woven needle-punched geotextile matrix to form a 5mm thick impermeable barrier (1x10-11 m/s). It is easy to install and ready to landscape. Adjacent panels of Bentomat do not require the specialist heat welding of a traditional polymer liner. Sodium bentonite granules are available to 'glue' adjacent panels together.

Bentomat is 'self sealing'; In the event that it is punctured locally by a sharp object, the bentonite swells to plug the gaps, reinstating the impermeable liner.
