Shallow slopes, where the angle of the slope exceeds the internal angle of friction of the soil require stabilisation. Geogrid reinforcement within the slope can offer this and would be selected depending upon the prevailing ground conditions and imposed loads.
If required and when the slope had been stabilised structurally, surface stabilisation may be required. This surface reinforcement or protection would be selected depending upon the soil conditions, aesthetics required, slope and design life of the solution.
