Further Applications for our solutions
As our systems comprise modular units, their uses are almost limitless. We are always available to discuss your ideas and share our experience with you.
Greening Gabions
Being 35% voids, gabions can easily accrete soils and establish vegetation, particularly in channelling works. However, by considering environmental enhancement at the design-stage, we are able to actively promote vegetation on our structures, rather than it happening naturally. In this project in Berkshire, gabions were lined with a coir mat, from our extensive range of soil-bioengineering products, and the voids between the stones filled with topsoil. Hydroseeding and local planting will soon engulf the gabion.
Welded Gabions
Manufactured by Maccaferri, welded gabions can be used in certain retaining structures and architectural applications. Less flexible than their double twist woven mesh gabion counterparts, they are generally considered not suitable for projects where settlement is expected, or in river and channelling works.
Architectural Gabions
Gabions are being increasingly used within architectural applications due to their unique aesthetics and flexibility of use. The units can be readily shaped without losing their structural integrity. Gabions have been used in many structures, including as cladding for buildings.
Permanent facings for soil-nailed slopes
The unique internal hollow section of Anchor Landmark blocks enables it to be utilised as a permanent facing for soil-nailed slopes or tied back to existing structures when there is insufficient space for a traditional retaining structure. A structural steel channel is passed through the void in the blocks which is then tied back to the slope.
