Erosion Protection: Rivers, Lakes & Channels

Enkamat stabilises balancing lagoons surrounding Rockingham Motor Speedway.
1440 mē of Enkamat A20 regenerates a reed margin and reinforces the banks around Haddiscoe Island. See Eco 48.
Coastal defence wall in a managed retreat location using Geotubes for the core and Reno Mattresses for the armour.
Armater holds seeded soil permanently to the steep channel slopes. See Eco 47.
1440 mē of Enkamat A20 regenerates the reed margin in a medium risk erosion zone. See Eco 48.

The natural erosion of river banks, lake shores and channels is an ongoing process and if left unchecked can result in geotechnical failure, often affecting road and rail infrastructure and pedestrian footpaths. Protection against erosion is typically provided in the form of a shallow revetment. Where undercutting has occurred forming a vertical bank, a river wall maybe required providing both geotechnical support and erosion protection.

Maccaferri has a wide range of double twist wire options, geosynthetic geomats and also natural fibre solutions available to meet your project needs. Maccaferri software for the design of channels (MacRA 1) and drop-structures (MacRA 2) can be used to rapidly identify suitable erosion protection products required. MacRA 1 channel design software allows the user to enter performance characteristics of any manufacturer’s erosion control method or product (mats, gabions, grasses, wattles, brush-layering, live staking etc) for comparison.

The steepness of the revetment will effect the solution chosen. Please select from the following;

Shallow Revetments <35° approx. (Click Here)

River Walls >50° approx. (Click Here)
