An integral part of Maccaferri’s MacWall range, MacWall Vertica blocks are manufactured under licence by Acheson and Glover Ltd in Ireland, and combined with Paragrid geosynthetic reinforcement for use in the construction of retaining walls up to a height of 8 metres.
The system has recently received full BBA (British Board of Agrément) certification following rigorous assessments of the manufacturing and construction process, and including a 30-minute fire test.
Featuring built-in locators to ensure proper alignment, MacWall Vertica concrete blocks are of a single size, measuring 457mm x 200mm x 280mm. Structural stability is achieved through the frictional interaction and interlock of the soil particles with the geogrid and by the frictional connection of the geogrid to the facing units.
Available in six standard architectural masonry colours, other colours are available to special order. Blocks are manufactured from semi-dry concrete in machines using mechanical vibratory compaction and sizing to achieve the specified minimum compressive strength, water absorption and block shape.
The Paragrid geosynthetic material approved for use with MacWall Vertica blocks includes types 30/15, 50/15 and 80/15 and is covered by BBA Roads and Bridges Certificate No 98/R098.
